Women's Basketball Falls at Home to #12/11 TCU

HOUSTON – Redshirt senior guard Kyndall Hunter scored 20 points as the University of Houston Women's Basketball team fell 72-50 to #12/11 TCU on Wednesday evening inside Fertitta Center.
The Cougars (7-19, 1-14 Big 12) were led in scoring by Hunter's 20 points, including going 8-8 from the charity stripe. Senior guard TK Pitts snagged 11 rebounds and is now nine away from reaching 500 career rebounds.
TCU (24-4, 12-3 Big 12) had three scorers in double figures as Marta Suarez led the pack with 21 points, Olivia Miles posted 18 points and Veronica Sheffey scored 11 points.
TCU built an 11-6 lead through the midway the first quarter and never trailed. The Horned Frogs led 19-8 at the end of one and 41-19 at the half.
TCU led by as many as 31 at the 6:10 minute mark in the fourth quarter. Houston responded with an 11-2 run, with TCU's final two points coming at the free throw line. TCU scored nine points in the final quarter, their lowest-scoring period of the game and the third time this season they have been held to nine points in any quarter.

Houston heads to the Grand Canyon State to face Arizona State at 3 p.m. CT, Saturday at Desert Financial Arena in Tempe, Ariz. The Cougars will travel to Tucson, Ariz., to take on Arizona inside McKale Center at 7 p.m. CT, Tuesday.
