Cougars, Buffaloes meet for the first time in Houston at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday

HOUSTON – The University of Houston Women's Basketball team hosts Colorado for the first time in series history at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday inside Fertitta Center for its annual Play4Kay game.

Fans are encouraged to wear PINK to support the fight against breast cancer. Fans in attendance will receive a free pink ribbon along with a trading card of Sasha and Shasta. Fans can stick around for postgame autographs with the mascots.

THE GAME

Houston and Colorado meet for the fifth time in series history and for the first time in Houston on Wednesday.
The Buffaloes lead the all-time series, 3-1.
Houston and Colorado faced each other twice last season, once during the regular season (83-60, Feb. 15, 2025) and during the first round of the Big 12 Championship (66-58, March 5, 2025).
The Cougars picked up their lone victory, 79-78, against the Buffaloes in Boulder, Colo., on Dec. 4, 1987. Head Coach Matthew Mitchell is 1-1 against the Buffaloes and 0-1 against Head Coach JR Payne.
Payne defeated Mitchell, 79-69, in OT on Nov. 19, 2016, in Boulder, Colo.

LAST TIME OUT

Amirah Abdur-Rahim posted a season best 18 points as Houston fell, 85-61, against #18 Texas Tech on Saturday evening inside Fertitta Center.
Kierra Merchant scored 13 points for her third consecutive game in double figures. Briana Peguero rounded out the double-digit scoring with 12 points.
