Cougars welcome #14/14 Texas Tech to Fertitta Center for 8 p.m., tipoff
HOUSTON – Winners of its last seven games, the #7/7 University of Houston Men's Basketball program opens its Big 12 Conference home schedule when it plays host to #14/17 Texas Tech inside Fertitta Center at 8 p.m., Tuesday, in a game presented by Little Woodrow's.
Houston enters Tuesday's game following a 67-60 win over Cincinnati inside Fifth Third Arena on Saturday afternoon. It was the program's 13th straight win over the Bearcats and marked the 11th straight season in which the Cougars started 1-0 in conference play, including a 3-0 mark in the Big 12.
Freshman point guard Kingston Flemings led all players with 19 points, six assists and five steals and added three defensive rebounds with only one turnover in nearly 38 minutes of action. Senior point guard Milos Uzan added 18 points with four 3-pointers as the Cougars held Cincinnati scoreless for the final 3:51 to take the win.
Senior guard Emanuel Sharp leads the Cougars with 15.9 points per game 2.8 3-point field goals per game. The Tampa, Fla, native saw his streak of consecutive games with at least one 3-point field goal snapped at 28 games dating back to last season. That mark tied as the fifth-longest streak in Houston single-season history.
Junior forward Joseph Tugler continues to show why he is the defending recipient of the Lefty Driesell Award, presented annually to the nation's top defensive player and a National Defensive Player of the Year candidate in 2025-26. With 1.9 blocks and 2.0 steals per game, Tugler is the only student-athlete to rank among the Big 12's Top-Eight leaders in both categories.
The Cougars have won their last 12 home games inside Fertitta Center and 45 of their last 46. Only an 82-81 loss in overtime to #22/19 Texas Tech on February 1, 2025, prevents a longer streak.
