Women’s Basketball Comeback Bid Falls Short Against #14 Baylor

Houston's fourth quarter attempt not enough against Baylor
WACO, Texas – A fourth-quarter comeback bid by the University of Houston Women's Basketball team fell short as the Cougars dropped an 82-66 loss to #14 Baylor on Tuesday night inside Foster Pavilion.
Graduate forward Amirah Abdur-Rahim and redshirt guard Kyndall Hunter scored 17 points apiece for Houston (6-14, 0-9 Big 12) while graduate guard Briana Peguero added 14 points and a season high seven assists.
Baylor (19-3, 8-1 Big 12) extended its win streak to eight with four Bears in double figures. Darianna Littlepage-Buggs led the Bears with 25 points while Bella Fontleroy recorded a double-double with 17 points and 12 rebounds. Taliah Scott scored 14 points and Kyla Abraham ended the night with 10 points.
Houston kept it close in the first quarter, trailing 11-9 leading up to the media timeout. Baylor came out roaring with a 7-0 run with five points from Fontletroy.
The Cougars had trailed by double digits since midway through the second quarter, but a 14-6 run cut the deficit to 71-64 with 5:17 remaining in the fourth. Baylor used an 11-0 run in the final minutes to seal the victory.

The Cougars return to Fertitta Center for a 2 p.m., Sunday, meeting against Cincinnati for its Blackout: Black History Month Celebration/WBB Alumni Day game. Fans are encouraged to wear BLACK on Sunday.
