Cougars set to face three Power 5 baseball conference programs in Frisco Classic
FRISCO, Texas – The Houston Baseball team had its second non-conference tournament schedule announced on Tuesday with the Cougars set to play in the 2026 rendition of the Frisco Classic Feb. 27 – March 1 in Frisco.
Houston will face off against three Power 5 baseball programs in the tournament filled with Oregon State, Iowa and Alabama.
The Cougars will be featured in the first and last games of the tournament, opening against Oregon State on Feb. 27 at 2 p.m. and closing the tournament on March 1 against Alabama at 3 p.m.
Houston's middle game will be at Noon on Feb. 28 against Iowa.
The Cougars and Beavers will meet after having their 2025 meeting canceled due to freezing conditions in Round Rock last February and will be the first meeting in series history.
Houston and Iowa will meet for the first time since 2017 when the met in the 2017 Houston Regional. The Hawkeyes won the first game before the Cougars won the elimination game two days later.
The Cougars and Crimson Tide will clash for the 19th time in program history and first time since 2016. Houston holds a 10-8 edge over Alabama with the first meeting dating back to 1976.
With the Frisco Classic schedule announcement, Houston is set to face programs from each of the Power 5 baseball conferences – SEC, ACC, Big 10 and Pac 12 – during before the Big 12 Conference slate begins in March.
