Cougars drop first match of the season in Boulder
BOULDER, Colo. – The University of Houston Soccer team dropped its first match of the season in a 1-0 defeat to Colorado on Sunday afternoon at Prentup Field.
Houston (6-1-3, 1-1-1) had its chances with four goals on target, but couldn't get one into the back of the net. The Cougars' best chance came after Colorado's goalkeeper deflected the ball and sophomore Savannah Tafireyi poked it in but was in an offside position.
Colorado (8-1-2, 2-0-1) kept its perfect home record intact as Jordan Whiteaker and Faith Leyba found the nation's leading goal scorer in Hope Leyba for her 13th goal of the season in the 86th minute.
With her start today, graduate Alex Whitcraft moved into sole possession of 10th place on the program's career list for starts with her 61st.
