Battle of the Cougars Ends in Draw

Houston and BYU battle to 1-1 draw
HOUSTON – The University of Houston Soccer team added another point to its tally after a 1-1 draw against rv BYU on Thursday evening at the Carl Lewis International Complex.
Houston (6-1-4, 1-1-2 Big 12) had its chances with five shots on target including a pair of narrow misses in the first half.
In the 37th minute, junior Kyrsten Kizer found sophomore Casey Maddox who spotted up her shot and pushed it past the BYU goalkeeper.
BYU (6-3-2, 1-2-1 Big 12) responded just before the end of the half in the 45th minute after a corner kick was loose and found the head of Avery Frischknecht for her first goal of the season.
The two teams traded blows in the second half as standout graduate defender Alex Whitcraft made several saves inside the box to keep the score even.
