Cougars and Bearkats meet at 7:30 p.m., Thursday in Huntsville, Texas
HUNTSVILLE, Texas – The University of Houston Soccer team travels to face Sam Houston at 7:30 p.m., Thursday at Pritchett Field.

Houston dominated St. Mary's (TX) with a 4-0 victory that included 27 shots and four different goal scorers.

Juniors Ava Shannon, Adelhia Ghonda and Jocelyn Chinea, and sophomore Casey Madoox each scored a goal while freshman Nadia Ortiz, Shannon and Maddox each registered an assist.

- Houston enters 2025 with a brand new coaching staff as Ben Williams was named head coach of the Cougars in February.
- Williams spent the 2024 season leading SFA to the Southland Conference Regular Season and Tournament titles.
- Graduate Jaden Humbyrd, junior Kyrsten Kizer and sophomore Casey Maddox were named captains for the 2025 season as voted on by their teammates.
- Houston ranks second in the Big 12 Conference with 45 shots taken. The Cougars are averaging 22.5 shots per game through two matches.
- The Cougars feature a revamped roster as they welcome 15 newcomers to the team including 11 transfers and four freshmen.
- Those 11 transfers bring over 300 caps, 17,000 minutes played and 11 conference titles.
- Graduate Alex Whitcraft returns for her final season of eligibility and needs just seven starts to crack the top-10 in career games started in program history.
- Cameryn Maddox needs just four goals to join the program's top-10 in career goals scored.
- Sam Houston enters the 2025 season with new leadership as Kendall Ayers was named head coach of the Bearkats in April.
- Ayers came from Texas Southern after leading them to the SWAC Tournament title match.
