Southland Conference Defender and Scholar-Athlete of the Year joins Cougars
HOUSTON – The 2024 Southland Conference Defender and Scholar-Athlete of the Year, Ella Morgan, joins the University of Houston Soccer program as a senior for the 2025 season, Head Coach Ben Williams announced Thursday.
"We're thrilled to have Ella join the program," Williams said. "She's not only a fantastic player but also an incredible person. Bringing in someone with her level of experience, leadership and who was voted one of the top 100 players in the country. Ella will no doubt add tremendous value to our soccer program."
Morgan rejoins Williams and Assistant Coach Izzie Vaccari after three seasons at SFA. Morgan earned a spot on the Southland All-Tournament Team on the way to the regular season and tournament title in 2024.

Last season, the Allen, Texas, native started 19 of the 20 matches while recording 1,758 minutes played. Morgan tallied 18 shots with two goals and twice earned Southland Defensive Player of the Week honors.
Â
As a sophomore, Morgan played in 16 of 17 matches with 1,385 minutes played. The defender scored one goal on four shots on the season.
