Bayou Bucket Classic Details Announced

Houston, Rice meet for 46th time at 6 p.m. on ESPN+
HOUSTON – The 2025 edition of the Bayou Bucket will take place at Rice Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 6 at 6 p.m. on ESPN+ for the 46th meeting between the Houston Cougars and Rice Owls.
The Cougars are 33-12 all-time against the Owls with Houston dominating the 2024 meeting 33-7. The Cougars scored 33 straight points before an Owls touchdown with 1:08 remaining in the game, a four-yard rush by Rice-to-Houston transfer Dean Connors. Houston has won eight of the last nine Bayou Bucket matchups.
The Cougars first four game times and networks have been released with the Cougars featured on ESPN and ESPN+ twice in the first four games.
Houston opens Year 2 of Head Coach Willie Fritz's tenure at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 28 against Stephen F. Austin on ESPN+ inside TDECU Stadium. The Cougars and Lumberjacks will meet for the fourth time in program history.
The Cougars Week 3 game against Colorado is slated for 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 12 on ESPN.
Houston has a bye in Week 4 before going to Oregon State in Week 5 for another Friday night matchup on ESPN at 9:30 p.m. CT.
The Cougars will be featured on FS1 at UCF on Friday, Nov. 7. Kick time will be released at a later date.
