Houston’s slim lead erased in sixth; Baylor takes lead in eighth
WACO, Texas – Despite 5.0 strong innings from right-hander Richie Roman, the Houston baseball team dropped the second game of its three-game series to Baylor on Saturday 4-3.
Houston (17-13, 4-7 Big 12) scored three runs in the fourth inning to take a 3-2 lead after a quirky bouncer with the bases loaded off the bat of right fielder Evan Haeger resulted in a throwing error that cleared the base.
Baylor (21-9, 5-6 Big 12) scratched a run across in the sixth inning to tie the game and pushed the winning run across in the ninth on a blooper that evaded the outreached glove of shortstop Tyler Cox.
Roman (0-4), who has pitched 5.0+ innings in each of his last three starts, did not get a decision in the game after striking out six.
Second baseman Aaron Lugo led the Cougars with a 2-for-3 game.
