Creighton guard joins the Cougars with one season of eligibility remaining

Isaacs will compete as a senior and have one season of eligibility remaining. This summer, Houston Athletics compliance officials will work to file a medical hardship waiver for Isaacs from his last season at Creighton for a second season of eligibility with the Cougars.
"We wanted to find a veteran and someone with a proven record. Pop can shoot the three, is tough, is competitive and has shown his talent on the biggest stages," Sampson said. "We are really excited to work with Pop. He can help us, and we believe we can help him."
Standing 6-foot-2 and weighing 180 points, Isaacs came to Houston after competing during the 2024-25 season at Creighton.
With the Bluejays, he averaged 16.3 points, 4.8 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game before undergoing hip surgery on Dec. 11, 2024, and missing the remainder of the season.
A native of Las Vegas, Isaacs posted 25 points with seven rebounds and five 3-pointers against Nebraska and totaled 18 points with five assists against San Diego State during the Players Era Festival.
He scored 25 points and dished out six assists against #20 Texas A&M in late November and poured in a season-high 27 points with seven rebounds and six treys in a win over #1 Kansas in early December. With his performance in the latter game, he tied a Creighton single-game record for scoring against a #1 opponent.
Isaacs spent his first two collegiate seasons at Texas Tech during the 2022-23 and 2023-24 seasons.
As a sophomore in 2023-24, he led the Red Raiders with 15.8 points per game while starting all 34 games and earning All-Big 12 Third-Team recognition.
Isaacs led Texas Tech in scoring in 15 games, including 22 points against BYU in a Big 12 Championship Quarterfinal win in Kansas City, Mo.
He scored 28 points with five 3-pointers in a win over Sam Houston in late December 2023 to earn Big 12 Player of the Week honors.
As a freshman in 2022-23, Isaacs was named to the league's All-Freshman Team after averaging 11.5 points, 2.7 assists, 2.0 rebounds and 1.1 steals per game. He ranked third among all Big 12 freshmen with his scoring average and finished fourth in the league with 2.5 treys per game.
Before entering the collegiate ranks, Isaacs was a star player for Coronado High School and Wasatch Academy. As a senior at Coronado High, he averaged 23.0 points and 5.0 rebounds per game and was named the Southern Nevada Offensive Player of the Year.
He averaged 14.1 points and 2.4 assists per game as a junior at Wasatch Academy.
In addition to his high school and collegiate honors, Isaacs enjoyed success at the international level. He earned a gold medal with the USA Basketball Under-16 team at the 2019 FIBA Americas Championships in Belém, Brazil, averaging 10.7 points, 5.87 rebounds and a team-high 4.0 assists per game.
