Cougars compete as team at Thunderbird Collegiate; Two individuals tee off at Aggie Invitational

The Cougars will compete as a team at the Thunderbird Collegiate at Papago Golf Club in Phoenix. That tournament begins Friday morning and wraps up with the Final Round on Saturday on the 7,419-yard, par-72 course.
Sophomore Grant Doggett and freshman Hsuan-Yi Chen will compete as individuals at the Aggie Invitational at Traditions Club in Bryan-College Station, Texas with 36 holes set for Saturday and the Final Round teeing off Sunday morning.
Houston enters this weekend after finishing 13th at the prestigious Valspar Collegiate Invitational at Floridian National Golf Club in Palm City, Fla., on March 24-25. The tournament featured five of the nation's Top-10 teams with each of the Top Three, eight of the Top 20 and 11 of the Top 25.

ABOUT the COUGARS
Under Dismuke's leadership, Houston will be represented by junior Hudson Weibel, sophomore Chi Chun Chen, senior Wolfgang Glawe, senior Jacob Borow and senior Laurenz Schiergen. Junior Bryant Hiskey II will compete as an individual.
This season, Weibel leads the Cougars with a 71.26 scoring average and is tied for with Chen for the team lead with 11 rounds of par or better, including six in the 60s.
Borow stands second on the team with his 71.56 average and is tied with Glawe and Doggett for third with 10 rounds of par or lower.
Glawe lowered his score with each round at the Valspar Collegiate Invitational and capped that tournament with a 66 to finish at 7-under 207 and tie for 12th to lead the Cougars.
TEAM FIELD
The Cougars will compete in a 10-team field featuring #14 Utah, #33 Colorado, #47 USC, #49 New Mexico, Grand Canyon, Loyola Marymount, Oregon State and host #5 Arizona State.
TEE TIMES
For Friday's First Round, Houston will compete in groups with student-athletes from USC, New Mexico and Grand Canyon beginning at 8:06 a.m.

UP NEXT
Following the Thunderbird Intercollegiate, the Cougars take their first steps when they compete at the Big 12 Championships at Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, Okla., on April 22-24.
From there, Houston enters the NCAA postseason. The Cougars will learn their NCAA Regional destination during the NCAA Selection Show set to air at Noon, April 30.
The six sites for 2025 NCAA Regional play are Poplar Grove Golf Course (Amherst, Va.; hosted by Virginia); Gold Mountain Golf Club (Bremerton, Wash., hosted by Washington); The Blessings Golf Club (Fayetteville, Ark.; hosted by Arkansas); Montreux Golf and Country Club (Reno, Nev.; hosted by Nevada); Karsten Creek Golf Club (Stillwater Okla.., hosted by Oklahoma State) and Seminole Legacy Club (Tallahassee, Fla.; hosted by Florida State)
