Houston set to host Texas A&M-Corpus Christi for the first time since 2021
HOUSTON – The Houston Baseball team hosts the final game of a five-game home stand on Wednesday against the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Islanders at 6:30 p.m. from Don Sanders Field at Darryl and Lori Schroeder Park.

- This is the first meeting in Houston since 2021.
- The Cougars have won the last three meetings in Houston.
- Senior Malachi Lott is the lone remaining position player from the last meeting with the Islanders, finishing the 1-for-2 with a walk and a run scored.
- Senior Graysen Drezek appeared in the last meeting, striking out one batter in 0.2 innings pitched.
QUICK HITTERS
- Senior Antoine Jean pitched to a Big 12 best 2.21 ERA in the month of March with 34 strikeouts across 20.1 innings over six appearances. The southpaw pitcher held opponents to a .182 average against while striking out 15.05 per nine innings.
- Jean ranks seventh nationally in strikeouts per nine innings pitched with a staggering 14.65 strikeouts per nine (min. 30 IP). Jean's 51 strikeouts ranks 28th nationally.
- Sophomore Tre Broussard's wheels are turning, successfully stealing 17 bases in a row this season. The Houston, native is fifth all-time in school history for consecutive stolen bases and has stolen the fourth-most bags in school history. Broussard ranks 28th nationally with 17 stolen bases and is one of six in the country with 17+ stolen bases without being caught.
- The Cougars are 3-3 in midweek games this season and have scored 36 runs across the six games.
- Houston scored 10+ runs in five consecutive games scoring 10+ for the first time since 1999 scoring 10+ in games at Rice (3/5), vs Grambling (3/7-9) and at Sam Houston (3/12).
- Houston did not lose back-to-back games in the first 15 games of the season – the first time since 2013 when Houston did not lose back-to-back games until its 30th game of the year. During that span Houston scored 10+ runs six times and in four consecutive games for the first time since 2002.
- Sophomore Xavier Perez drove in the most RBI in a game since Bobby Hollas' nine RBI in 1979 when he drove in eight Cougars at Rice on March 5. The utility man scorched four hits, three doubles and a home run while driving in three runs on two swings of the bat. The eight RBI is fourth-most by any player in Division-I this season.
- Houston won its first four series to open the season marking the first time since 2019 the Cougars have opened the season with three series wins against non-conference teams. Houston has won the first three series of the season in back-to-back seasons after opening 2024 with series wins against Binghamton, St. John's and Baylor.
- Sophomore Alex Solis worked his first-career quality start on Tuesday against SFA striking out a career-high eight hitters in career-long 6.0 innings of work.
LAST TIME OUT
- Houston won the series opener against TCU on Friday 3-2 but dropped the final two games of the series to the Horned Frogs.
- Antoine Jean earned the win on Friday night pitching 4.1 scoreless innings in relief while striking out four.
