Women’s Golf Tees Off at Riverbend Intercollegiate

Cougars compete at Riverbend Country Club in Sugar Land, Texas
SUGAR LAND, Texas – The University of Houston Women's returns to action when it tees off at the Riverbend Intercollegiate at Riverbend Country Club on Monday morning.
The Cougars will play 36 holes Monday with the Final Round on Tuesday on the 6,148-yard, par-72 course. Admission is free, and all fans are invited to attend.
Houston enters the Riverbend Intercollegiate after finishing seventh at their own Chevron Collegiate at Golf Club of Houston in Humble, Texas, on Feb. 24-25.
Junior Alexa Saldana fired three straight rounds of par or lower, including a 68 in the Second Round, to tie for 12th and lead the Cougars with a score of 6-under 210.

MEET the COUGARS
Under the leadership of Carolyn Macow Leatherwood Head Coach Lydia Lasprilla, the Cougars will be represented by junior Alexa Saldana, freshman Annika Ishiyama, junior Moa Svedenskiold, sophomore Maelynn Kim and junior Hyeonji Kang.
Junior Natalie Saint Germain, sophomore Ellen Yates and senior Brooke Morales will compete as individuals.
This season, Svedenskiold leads Houston with a 71.47 scoring average and stands third with 11 rounds of par or better. Junior Natalie Saint Germain is a close with a 71.47 average and 10 rounds or par or lower while Saldana is a closer third at 71.71.
Competing in her first collegiate season as a true freshman, Ishiyama is tied with sophomore Maelynn Kim for the team lead with 12 rounds of par or lower.
TEAM FIELD
Houston will compete in a 15-team field featuring Abilene Christian, Lamar, Long Island, McLennan College, Missouri State, New Mexico State Odessa College, Stephen F. Austin, Tarleton State, East Texas A&M, UT Arlington, UT Rio Grande Valley, Prairie View A&M and host Houston Christian.
