Elite tournament features five Top-10 and 11 Top-25 programs at Floridian National Golf Club
PALM CITY, Fla. – The University of Houston Men's Golf program will play host to one of the nation's premier events as competes at the Valspar Collegiate Invitational at Floridian National Golf Club, beginning Monday morning.
The Valspar Collegiate Invitational team field features five of the nation's Top-10 teams with each of the Top Three, eight of the Top 20 and 11 of the Top 25. Admission is FREE to, and all fans are invited to attend.
Schools will play 36 holes with a 7:30 a.m. (CDT) shotgun start Monday with the Final Round teeing off with a 7:30 a.m. (CDT) shotgun start Tuesday on the 7,114-yard, par-72 course.
Houston enters the Valspar Collegiate Invitational after winning their team title at their own All-American Intercollegiate by nine strokes at Golf Club of Houston on March 17-18. The Cougars opened that event with a score of 12-under par and never looked back in winning the 19th team championship under Director of Golf Jonathan Dismuke
A year ago, Florida State captured the team championship with a score of 19-under 833 to win by four strokes over Vanderbilt. Luke Clanton (Florida State) earned medalist honors with a score of 14-under 199.

ABOUT the COUGARS
Under Dismuke's leadership, Houston will be represented by junior Hudson Weibel, sophomore Chi Chun Chen, senior Jacob Borow, senior Wolfgang Glawe and senior Laurenz Schiergen.
This season, Weibel leads the Cougars with a 71.20 scoring average and is tied for second on the team with 10 rounds of par or lower, including a team-high six rounds in the 60s.. The Dallas native tied for sixth at the All-American Intercollegiate with a score of 214.
Borow stands second among the Cougars with a 71.87 average while Glawe is third on the team at 72.11. Chen leads the Cougars with 11 rounds of par or better,

The Cougars will compete in a 17-team field featuring #1 Auburn, #2 Texas, #3 Arizona State, #7 Oklahoma, #8 North Carolina, #14 Florida State, #17 Duke, #19 Vanderbilt, #21 Texas Tech, #22 Tennessee, #23 Texas A&M, #31 South Florida, #41 Wake Forest, Ohio State, Augusta and Arkansas.

For Monday's First Round, Houston will compete in groups with student-athletes from Florida State, Auburn and Arkansas.
Chen begins the day in the first group off No. 9 at 7:30 a.m. (CST) Monday, with Weibel (second group off No. 9), Borow (first group off No. 10), Glawe (second group off No. 10) and Schiergen (No. 11) following.
