Tennis Ends Road Trip with Loss to #73 Kansas State

Cougars return home for four-game homestand on Friday
MANHATTAN, Kan. – The University of Houston Tennis team ended its five-game road stretch with a 4-0 loss at #73 Kansas State at Mike Goss Tennis Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
The Cougars (3-5, 0-2 Big 12) return the Barbara Wallace Winston Tennis Facility to open a four-game homestand when they welcome #41 TCU at 2 p.m., Friday.
Kansas State (4-5, 1-1 Big 12) got out to an early start as Veronika Kulhava and Maria Santos won, 6-2, over juniors Gabriela Cortes and Sophie Schouten on court three.
The Wildcats clinched the doubles point on court three as Sana Garakani and Zhanel Rustemova defeated sophomores Iva Sepa and Heta Nuutinen, 6-3.
Kansas State doubled their lead on court two when Rustemova took down Sepa, 6-4, 6-3.
Cortes made her singles season debut as she fell, 6-2, 6-1, to Kulhava on court six.
After Tereza Polakova coasted to a 6-3 opening set win, Schouten fought hard forcing a tiebreak before falling, 7-6(4).
