
Cougars Lead All-American Intercollegiate

Trio finish in top five after two rounds in Humble, Texas; Chen leads field
HUMBLE, Texas – After two rounds of the All-American Intercollegiate on Monday, the Houston Men's Golf Team paced the field by 10 strokes after shooting 21-under par through two rounds with three Cougars in the top five led by clubhouse leader sophomore Chi Chun Chen's six-under 135.
Chen has a three-stroke lead over teammate redshirt senior Jacob Borow after shooting nine-under par through two rounds. Chen shot three-under 69 the first 18 holes before shooting six-under 66 the second 18.
Borow's first round was a one-under 71 but a fantastic five-under 67 on the final 18 of the day moved the Lake Jackson, Texas, native into second overall.
Chen knocked down seven birdies and the eagle while Borow buried 10 birdies and an eagle.
Senior Wolfgang Glawe rounds out the top five leaderboard after two rounds after Glawe shot five-under on the first 18 and one-over par on the second round to finish the day four-under par.
Redshirt junior Hudson Weibel rounded out Houston's top four scorers after 36 holes who knocked in seven birdies for a two-under 142.
The four Cougars under par all rank in the top 11 entering the final round on Tuesday.
Houston's fifth finisher Laurenz Schiergen finished with a strong round three-over with six birdies across the 36 holes of play and moved up two spots after the second round.
Houston paced the field on Par 5 and Par 4 holes with the Cougars shooting 11-under par on Par 5 holes while being the only team in the field to shoot under par on Par 4 holes with a combined six-under par on Par 4s.
Sophomore Grant Doggett's leads Houston's B Team at the All-American Intercollegiate shooting an even 144 through 36 holes. Doggett, who finished the day in 16th place, paces freshman Hsuan-Yi Chen, who shot two-over par through 36 holes, redshirt juniors Bryant Hiskey II's 10-over par 36-hole score, Ruben Lindsay's 12-over and Julio Rios-Brache's 23-over.
The Cougars lead the 15-team field of the All-American Intercollegiate on the 7,067-yard, par-72 Tournament Course. Houston's lone individual competing on the 7,508-yard, par-72 Member Course for the All-American Intercollegiate Individuals event is in 39th place.
