Cougars return to action at Kansas State at noon, Sunday
STILLWATER, Okla. – The University of Houston Tennis team dropped its Big 12 Conference opener, 4-0, to #25 Oklahoma State on Friday evening at the Greenwood Tennis Center.
The Cougars (3-4, 0-1 Big 12) wrap up the opening weekend of conference play at noon, Sunday, when they head to Manhattan, Kansas to take on Kansas State at Mike Gross Tennis Stadium.
The Cowgirls (7-5, 1-0 Big 12) opened doubles action as Kylie Collins and Marcela Lopez defeated sophomore duo Heta Nuutinen and Iva Sepa, 6-2, on court two. Oklahoma State clinched the doubles point on court as Gracie Epps and Melisa Ercan defeated junior Gabriela Cortes and Sophie Schouten, 6-3.
Oklahoma State quickly doubled their lead as #88 Komar defeated Sepa on court two, 6-2, 6-1.
After a dominant first set, Nijkamp defeated Nuutinen on court four, 6-0, 6-3.
Cowgirls clinched the match on court five as #44 Gracie Epps took down sophomore Valeriia Krokhotina, 6-2, 6-2
