Cal evens series, sets up rubber match Sunday
BERKELEY, Calif. – The Houston Cougars dropped the second game of a three-game series to Cal on Saturday, 5-1, at Stu Gordon Stadium, evening up the series at a game apiece. Â

Opposite of Friday night, Cal (4-2) scored first with a two-run third inning. The Bears scored three more runs in the sixth inning to push their lead to 5-0.

Houston (3-2) did not record a hit until the ninth inning. With two outs in the ninth, sophomore Anthony Avalos laced a single to right to score the Cougars' first run of the game.

Houston aims to win the series on Sunday in the rubber match set for 2 p.m. CT at Stu Gordon Stadium. The game will be streamed on ACCNX and ESPN+.
