Women’s Golf Finishes Fourth in Spring Season Opener

25th-ranked Cougars finish fourth in two-day, 54-hole event; Junior Moa Svedenskiold finished fifth for first Top-Five showing of season
GUADALAJARA, Jalisco, Mexico – University of Houston Women's Golf junior Moa Svedenskiold finished fifth with a score of 3-under 213 to lead the Cougars during the Spring Season-opening Collegiate Invitational at Guadalajara Country Club on Saturday.
After opening the tournament with a 68 on the 6,210-yard, par-72 course Friday, Svedenskiold finished her Second Round with a 73 and closed the two-day, 54-hole event with a 72 to earn her first Top-Five finish of the season and the sixth of her career.
As a team, the 25th-ranked Cougars posted a score 874 to finish fourth. #12 Florida State won the team championship with a score of 854 to finish six strokes ahead of #23 TCU.
Junior Alexa Saldana tied for 16th at 220 while junior Hyeonji Kang – making her season debut as an individual player – finished 20th at 222. Sophomore Maelynn Kim tied for 23rd at 224 while freshman Annika Ishiyama tied for 39th at 230. Junior Natalie Saint Germain came in 60th with a 36-hole score of 146 after being unable to finish her Second Round on Saturday morning due to illness.
#11 Virginia finished third at 867 with #45 NC State (893), SMU (893), Washington (905), Maryland (909), Colorado State (911) and Georgia (917) rounding out the Top 10.
Florida State's Mirabel Tin earned medalist honors with a score of 12-under 204. Teammate Lottie Woad finished sixth at 210 while Virginia's Amanda Sambach came in third at 211.
