Soccer Student-Athletes Earn Academic Distinctions

Houston posts six student-athletes on list for third time
HOUSTON – Six student-athletes of the University of Houston Soccer team earned College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honors, the organization announced Tuesday.
Graduate Alex Whitcraft earned the award for the third time in her career while junior Kyrsten Kizer earned her second distinction. Seniors Jada Gibson and Morgan Donohue, junior Adelhia Ghonda and sophomore Amanda Adams each earn the award for the first time.
With 16 starts this season, Whitcraft moved to No. 5 in career starts in program history before suffering injury.
Tabbed a captain for the Cougars, Kizer appeared in all 18 matches scoring the fourth and final goal against rv Texas while registering three assists on the season.
Gibson appeared in every match with five starts on her way to registering over 2,700 career minutes.
In her first season with the Cougars, Donohue started 15 matches scoring a pair of goals including the equalizer against Texas and the game winner against McNeese. Ghonda finished second on the team with four goals scored including a brace against Southern.
Adams appeared in 18 matches registering her first career goal against McNeese while notching a pair of assists on the season.
ABOUT THE AWARD
The 2024-25 Academic All-District Women's Soccer Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.
All-District honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-American ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced in early December.
