Kingston Flemings Sweeps Big 12 Weekly Awards

Freshman point guard leads Cougars to win over Oakland and #22/25 Auburn
HOUSTON – After leading the Cougars to a pair of wins, University of Houston freshman point guard Kingston Flemings swept the Big 12 Conference Player of the Week and Newcomer of the Week honors.Flemings led the Cougars to a dominating home win over Oakland inside Fertitta Center on Wednesday and followed that with a dazzling performance against #22/25 Auburn during the RxBenefits Battleground 2k25 inside Legacy Arena in The BJCC on Sunday afternoon.
The San Antonio, Texas, native averaged 20.0 points, 8.0 assists and 5.0 rebounds per game while hitting 64.0 percent (16-of-25) from the field and 87.5 percent (7-of-8) from the free throw line. Flemings led the Cougars in scoring and assists and tied for second in blocks (1.0).
His week started with a 19-point performance against Oakland inside Fertitta Center on Wednesday night. Tying for the team lead in points, Flemings shot 8-of-12 from the field against the Golden Grizzlies and grabbed five rebounds with a career-high nine assists and no turnovers in more than 27 minutes.
Four days later, Flemings poured in a career-high 22 points on 8-of-13 shooting and added five rebounds with a game-high seven against the #22/25 Tigers.
In addition to his offensive numbers, he made his presence felt on the defensive end as well, blocking Auburn guard Tahaad Pettiford's potential go-ahead layup with Houston clinging to a 1-point lead and only 15 seconds remaining.Flemings now leads the Cougars with 17.3 points and 5.3 assists per game .
He was joined on this week's Big 12 Starting Five by AJ Dybantsa (BYU), Tamin Lipsey (Iowa State), Flory Bidunga (Kansas) and JT Toppin (Texas Tech).
