Women’s Golf Opens Spring Season in Mexico

Cougars tee off at Collegiate Invitational at Guadalajara Country Club on Friday morning

The Cougars, who stand at #25 in the latest Scoreboard by Clippd national rankings, will play 27 holes Friday and 27 holes Saturday with each day's play beginning at 8 a.m., on the 6,210-yard, par-72 course.
This will be Houston's first competition since finishing second at the Jim West Challenge at Kissing Tree Golf Club in San Marcos, Texas, on Oct. 20-21, 2024. It was Houston's fourth straight Top-Three team finish and third straight Top-Two showing during the fall season.
The Cougars captured the team championship with a score of 9-under 551 at the Schooner Fall Classic at Belmar Golf Club in Norman, Okla., on Sept. 21-23, 2024.

MEET the COUGARS
The Cougars will be represented by junior Alexa Saldana, junior Moa Svedenskiold, sophomore Maelynn Kim, freshman Annika Ishiyama and junior Natalie Saint Germain. Senior Hyeonji Kang will compete as an individual.

The Costa Mesa, Calif., native has finished in among the Top-20 individual leaders in all four tournaments, including an eighth-place finish at the Schooner Fall Classic.
Saint Germain stands second among the Cougars with a 71.30 average and has shot par or better in each of her last five rounds entering the Collegiate Invitational at Guadalajara Country Club.
The Prague native finished with a score of 4-under 136 to tie for fifth at the Schooner Fall Classic, the Cougars' best individual finish of the season to date.
Kang will make her 2024-25 season debut this weekend.
TEAM FIELD
Houston will compete in a 12-team field featuring Florida State, Maryland, Colorado State, SMU, TCU, NC State, Georgia, Colorado, Washington, Iowa and host Virginia.
TEE TIMES
Saint Germain begins the tournament for Houston off No. 1 at 8 a.m., Friday with Ishiyama (8:09 a.m.), Kim (8:18 a.m.), Svedenskiold (8:27 a.m.) and Saldana (8:36 a.m.) following. Kang opens play off No. 1 at 11 a.m.
