Tennis Wins Doubles Finals, Krokhotina Advances to Singles Final

WACO, Texas – The University of Houston Tennis team continued its success at the H-E-B Invite as both doubles teams won their respective bracket finals and sophomore Valeriia Krokhotina advanced to her singles bracket final on Saturday at the Hurd Tennis Center.

DOUBLES
Juniors Sophie Schouten and Gabriela Cortes outlasted Baylor's Sierra Berry and Wenfei Yu, 8-6, to win the red doubles bracket.

Krokhotina and fellow sophomore Iva Sepa claimed the green bracket crown with an 8-4 victory over Rice's Divna Ratkovic and Valentina Ponce Serrano.

SINGLES
In a back-and-forth match, Krokhotina came out on top of Texas A&M's Lizanne Boyer, 7-6(1), 6(5)-7, (10-5), to advance to the green singles bracket final.

Houston takes on the final day of the H-E-B Invite as Krokhotina faces Wenfei Yu on Sunday at 9 a.m.
