Houston’s first Championships selection since 2017
HOUSTON – University of Houston Tennis fifth-year Santa Strombacha has been selected to participate in the ITA All-American Championships in Cary, N.C.
Only 128 student-athletes from across the country are selected to participate in the event, taking place at the Cary Tennis Park from Sept. 21-29.
Strombacha's selection is the first for Houston since Tsveta Dimitrova's participation in 2017. In August, Strombacha was ranked No. 109 in the ITA Preseason Rankings, marking the first time a Cougar has been mentioned in the preseason rankings since Despoina Vogasari was ranked 42nd in 2015.
The Berlin, Germany, native reunited with Head Coach Katarina Adamovic at Houston after three strong seasons at GCU, where she earned All-WAC First Team honors in singles and doubles in all three seasons.
In 2024, Strombacha led the Lopes with a 19-1 singles record and 20 wins in doubles. During her time in Phoenix, Ariz., Strombacha amassed a 51-10 singles record and a 49-11 doubles record.
