Cougars drop midweek bout to the reigning national champions
AUSTIN, Texas – Despite another double-digit dig performance from graduate libero Kate Georgiades, the University of Houston Volleyball team fell in straight sets to #6 Texas on Wednesday night at Gregory Gymnasium.
Georgiades clinched her 105th career match with 10-or-more digs with 11 in the match. She's led the team in the category in every match this season and extended her streak to nine consecutive double-digit tallies, dating back to Nov. 22, 2023.Â

While the teams would trade blows to close the set, Texas took the first, 25-19.
Â
The second set remained close early until a 4-0 Longhorn run gave Texas an 11-6 lead. Houston responded with a 6-2 run to get back within one, but five straight points for Texas extended its lead back to six. The Cougars again fought back with a 5-1 run but Texas took the set, winning the last five points to win 25-18.Â
Â
Houston rallied to start the third, using a 5-1 run to take a 6-4 lead.
