Cougars open 2024-25 season on Monday, Nov. 4, against Jackson State inside Fertitta Center

Game times, broadcasting networks, the Big 12 Conference schedule and the Cougars' exhibition game will be released soon.
A year ago, the Cougars posted a perfect 17-0 record inside Fertitta Center and enter the 2024-25 campaign with a 22-game home winning streak, the nation's longest active streak.
The Cougars 2024-25 non-conference slate features five 20-game winners from a year ago – Auburn (27), Hofstra (20), Troy (20), Toledo (20) and Texas A&M-Coprus Christi (21) – and four schools which finished among their conference's Top-Three leaders, including Mid-American Conference regular-season champion Toledo.
Houston open the 2024-25 campaign when it meets Jackson State on Monday, Nov. 4. A year ago, Houston enjoyed an 89-55 win over the Tigers inside Fertitta Center on Dec. 9, 2023.
After facing Auburn inside Toyota Center as part of The Battleground 242K on Saturday, Nov. 9, the Cougars return to Fertitta Center to meet Louisiana on Wednesday, Nov. 13 and Hofstra on Friday, Nov. 22. Auburn posted a 27-8 record a year ago and tied for second in the Southeastern Conference with a 13-5 conference mark.
In 2023-24, Hofstra posted a 20-13 record and finished third in the Coastal Athletic Association. This will be the Pride's second visit to Fertitta Center after the Cougars claimed an 83-75 win in overtime to open the 2021-22 season.
Houston will compete at the Players Era Festival in Las Vegas, Nev., on Nov. 26-29. In its inaugural season, the tournament is aimed at captivating fans and provide student-athlete with opportunities to engage in unique name, image and likeness activities. Each participating team will engage in more than $1 million in NIL opportunities with Players Era sponsors outside of competition.
The Cougars will compete in an opponent pool with Notre Dame, Alabama and Rutgers with specific game times and dates to be announced soon.
From there, Houston returns to Fertitta Center to play four straight home games. The homestand begins on Saturday, Dec. 7 against Butler during the Big 12-Big East Battle. A year ago, the Cougars claimed a 66-60 win at Xavier in their first appearance in that event on Dec. 1, 2023.
Houston then closes the month against Troy (Tuesday, Dec. 10), Toledo (Wednesday, Dec. 18) and against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (Saturday, Dec. 21).
This will be only the second meeting against Troy and the first since a 93-85 win inside Hofheinz Pavilion on Dec. 14, 2009. The Trojans finished 20-12 overall and third in the Sun Belt Conference a year ago.
It will be the first meeting against Toledo since the 2008-09 season and marks the second straight season with a match-up against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi after an 82-60 win a year ago.
The Rockets captured the Mid-American Conference regular-season championship with a 20-12 overall record and 14-4 league mark. The Islanders posted a 21-12 record in 2023-24 and finished second in the Southland Conference.

While game times, dates and broadcasting networks have not been announced for the Big 12 Conference schedule, Houston knows its 2024-25 schedule matrix. For the first time in school history, Houston will play a 20-game conference schedule.
The Cougars will face Baylor, Kansas, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech and West Virginia in home-and-away series. BYU, Cincinnati, Iowa State, TCU and Utah will visit Fertitta Center while the Cougars hit the road to face Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado, Kansas State and UCF.
Houston enters the postseason when it competes at the Phillips 66 Big 12 Championship inside T-Mobile Center in Kansas City, Mo., on March 11-15.
