Guard will compete as a sophomore with three years of eligibility remaining

Arceneaux now will compete as a sophomore during the 2024-25 season and have three years of eligibility remaining.
The Beaumont, Texas, native competed in the first 11 games of the 2023-24 season before tearing the Achilles tendon in his right leg only five-and-a-half minutes into the Cougars' 70-66 win over Texas A&M inside Toyota Center during The Halal Guys Showcase.
Prior to the injury, Arceneaux was averaging 5.5 points and 4.5 rebounds per game. He scored a season-high 10 points in the Cougars' home win over Stetson and grabbed a season-high nine rebounds with three offensive boards in win over Montana inside Fertitta Center.
Arceneaux is one of nine lettermen returning for the Cougars, who finished at #3 in both national polls a year ago, posted a 32-5 overall record, advanced to the NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 for the fifth consecutive year and captured the Big 12 Conference regular-season championship by two games in their first year in the league.
UP NEXT
Arceneaux and the Cougars open the 2024-25 campaign when they meet Jackson State on Monday, Nov. 4. It will be the first of seven non-conference games inside the friendly confines of Fertitta Center.
Game times, broadcasting networks, the Big 12 Conference schedule and the Cougars' exhibition game will be released soon.
While game times, dates and broadcasting networks have not been announced for the Big 12 Conference schedule, Houston knows its 2024-25 league matrix. For the first time in school history, Houston will play a 20-game conference schedule.
The Cougars will face Baylor, Kansas, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech and West Virginia in home-and-away series. BYU, Cincinnati, Iowa State, TCU and Utah will visit Fertitta Center while the Cougars hit the road to face Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado, Kansas State and UCF.
