2024-25 Big 12 Conference Schedule Matrix

HOUSTON – As the 2024-25 season continues to draw closer, the University of Houston Men's Basketball program learned the breakdown of its Big 12 Conference opponents with the release of the league's schedule matrix on Thursday.

For the first time in school history, the Cougars will play a 20-game conference schedule. All Big 12 schools will play five schools in home-and-away series, five opponents at home only and five schools on the road only.

In 2024-25, Houston meets Baylor, Kansas, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech and West Virginia in home-and-away series.

BYU, Cincinnati, Iowa State, TCU and Utah will visit Fertitta Center while the Cougars hit the road to take on Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado, Kansas State and UCF.

Opponents were selected based on a combination of geography, historical results and a poll of the coaches to best balance the schedule in terms of travel and competitiveness.

A full Big 12 schedule with game dates, times and broadcasting networks will be released at a later date.

A year ago, Houston captured the Big 12 regular-season championship – the first in Houston Athletics history – with a 32-5 overall record and a 15-3 mark in league play despite a 1-2 start in its first three Big 12 games.

ABOUT the COUGARS
Under the leadership of Head Coach Kelvin Sampson, four starters and nine letterwinners return from the 2023-24 squad, which finished #3 in both final national polls, competed in its school-record sixth straight NCAA Tournament and advanced to its fifth straight NCAA Tournament Sweet 16, the nation's second-longest active streak.

The Cougars posted a perfect 17-0 record inside Fertitta Center and enter the upcoming season with a 22-game home winning streak, the nation's longest active streak.

Graduate guard LJ Cryer led the Cougars and ranked among the Big 12 leaders with 15.5 points per game and drained 112 3-pointers to become only the eighth player in school history to reach triple-digit treys in a season. The Katy, Texas, native earned All-America Honorable Mention from the United States Basketball Writers Association.

Graduate forward J'wan Roberts averaged 9.5 points and a team-best 6.8 rebounds per game and is poised to etch his name among Cougar greats in the Houston records book. With 118 points and 188 rebounds in 2024-25, the St. Thomas, Virgin Islands, native will become only the fourth player in school history to join the 1,000-Point/1,000- Rebound Club.
