Women’s Basketball Signs Forward Kiera Edmonds

Edmonds joins Cougars as a sophomore with three years of eligibility remaining
HOUSTON – University of Houston Women's Basketball Head Coach Ronald Hughey continues to expand his 2024-25 roster as the Cougars signed forward Kiera Edmonds on Thursday.
A 6'2 forward out of Brooklyn, N.Y., Edmonds will compete as a sophomore with three years of eligibility remaining.
"We are extremely excited about Kiera joining our family," Hughey said. "Kiera is a physical post player that will add depth and physicality to our front court. She plays with a high level of confidence and will only get better. Her ability to finish in the paint and to rebound out of the area will be huge for us."
Edmonds spent her freshman season at Wagner College where she was named to the Northeastern Conference All-Rookie Team. Edmonds led the Seahawks with 9.9 points per game and 7.8 rebounds per game in conference play.
The forward scored in double figures 10 times during her rookie season and posted a career-high 22 points against Central Connecticut State (Feb. 22).). She posted four double-doubles against Central Connecticut State (Jan. 27), Saint Francis (Feb. 15), Sacred Heart (Feb. 17) and LIU (Feb. 24). She also grabbed a career-high 14 rebounds against Le Moyne (Feb. 29
Edmonds attended Brooklyn Law & Tech, where she was on the varsity team for four years and averaged 17.4 points per game as a senior. The Brooklyn, N.Y., native was a captain of the varsity team while being named All-State twice. Edmonds also was a two-time city champion.
