Mouton Extends School Record, Four Women Qualify to Quarterfinals

Mouton, Thompson, Beckford and Townsend earn quarterfinal qualifications
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Freshman Michaela Mouton extended her school record in the 400-meter dash and advanced to two quarterfinals on Thursday at the NCAA West Regional at the University of Arkansas.
In her first event of the day, Mouton improved her school record in the 400-meter dash with a time of 51.15 as she won her heat to advance to the quarterfinals. Mouton finished the day with a 22.75 (+2.4) time in the 200-meter for her second qualification of the afternoon.
Junior hurdler Miracle Thompson earned her qualification to Saturday's quarterfinals in the 100-meter hurdles as she recorded a 13.29.
Houston continued to pick up qualifications as graduate Kelly-Ann Beckford sealed her spot in the 800-meter run as she won her heat at 2:05.21.
Graduate Sydni Townsend won her heat in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 56.02, nearly two seconds ahead of her competitors to earn the automatic qualification.
Graduate Claire Meyer concluded her collegiate career with a 13th-place finish in the 10,000-meter run at 34:34.38, missing the qualification for the NCAA Championships by five seconds.

- Junior Trey East III looks to qualify for his first NCAA Outdoor Championship as he competes at 3:50 p.m. in the 400-meter and at 5:45 p.m., in the 4x400-meter relay alongside freshman Nicholas Byrd, junior Dillon Leacock and freshman Joshua Sims-Waddy.
