Track & Field Concludes Day Two at Big 12 Championship

Ayomide Ogunbunmi, Cordell Nwokeji score points for the Cougars on Friday
WACO, Texas – Following multiple weather delays and schedule changes, the University of Houston Track and Field program concluded day two of competition at the 2024 Big 12 Outdoor Conference Championship.
Due to the weather delays, all preliminary running events initially scheduled for Friday evening will now be a timed final on Saturday. Fans can click here for a complete schedule.
Senior Ayomide Ogunbunmi and junior Charlie O'Block opened the day with action in the decathlon as they competed in the 110-meter hurdles, discus and pole vault. Ogunbunmi's best performance occurred in the discus with his throw of 40.53m for fourth in the event.
Following a five-hour weather delay, Ogunbunmi and O'Block resumed action in the decathlon with the javelin and closed out the evening with the 1,500-meter race. Ogunbunmi placed eighth overall with a personal-best score of 6,865 points to contribute one point towards Houston's team score. O'Block placed 10th with a personal best of 6,163 points.
Freshman Cordell Nwokeji scored the final two points of the evening for the Cougars in the men's shot put as he placed seventh with his throw of 18.32m (60-01.25).
