Cougars can’t corral the Cowgirl offense in run-rule loss
HOUSTON – The University of Houston Softball team came up short in a 11-0, five-inning loss to #7/#6 Oklahoma State at Cougar Softball Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Freshman Gigi Solis (0-1) picked up the loss for Houston (22-16, 3-11 Big 12) after allowing four runs in one inning in the circle. Ivy Rosenberry (10-2) twirled a complete game, Oklahoma State's (32-6, 11-3) second of the weekend.

Key Innings
1st | Oklahoma State picked up an early lead in the second game of the weekend. Jilyen Poullard led off the game with a single then later scored on a Caroline Wang double. The Cowgirls extended their lead to three as Micaela Wark hit a two-run home to left field.
4th | After a pair of solo home runs in the second and third boosted Oklahoma State's edge to 5-0, the Cowgirls used another two-run shot, this time from Poullard, to push their lead to seven.
5th | Three of the first four batters in the top of the fifth reached to load the bases and Oklahoma State's Lexi McDonald hit the team's first grand slam of the year to clinch the 11-0 run-rule win.
UP NEXT
Houston closes out the series against Oklahoma State at 11 a.m., Sunday. Originally scheduled for noon, the match was shifted forward due to expected inclement weather.
