Key Innings
1st | Houston wasted no time in establishing a presence in the game. Leading off for Houston, junior Lair Beautae sent a 2-2 pitch over the left-center field fence to put Houston up 1-0. Graduate Kennedy Thomas doubled in the next at-bat, then Rollin crushed her first homer of the game to right-center. Two batters later, junior Turiya Coleman kept the bats hot with her fifth home run of the year to put the Cougars up by four.
4th | After Texas used five runs in the third and a pair of runs in the top of the fourth to take a 7-4 lead, the Cougars erupted for eight runs in the home half of the inning. Four batters into the frame, Houston had loaded the bases via a walk and two hit-by-pitches. Senior Amanda Carden reached on an error to drive home a run and keep the bases full. Beautae drove home her second run of the game with a single that plated Ja'Naiya Thomas, followed by Kennedy Thomas reaching on another Longhorn error that allowed sophomore Mandy Esman and Carden to score.
Then Rollin cleared the bases with a three-run blast to left-center for her 44th-career home run to put the Cougars up 11-7. Following a Texas pitching change, Smith helped her own cause in the circle by singling through the left side to plate Cantu.
7th | While Texas again closed the gap with three runs in the sixth, Lehman slammed the door on any comeback from the Longhorns in the final frame. Lehman spun Houston's lone strikeout of the game to seal her fourth career save and clinch the Cougars' first Big 12 Conference win.
