#1/1 Men's Hoops Falls to #7/8 Iowa State in Big 12 Title Game

Cougars await NCAA Selection Show at 5 p.m., Sunday on CBS
Senior guards Jamal Shead and L.J. Cryer were named to the Big 12 Championship All-Tournament Team.
Shead led the Cougars (30-4) with 10 points and senior guard Mylik Wilson collected a team-high 10 boards off the bench. Sophomore guard Emanuel Sharp added five points as the Cougars shot 4-of-12 from the 3-point arc and 15-of-56 from the field.
Houston had an early 6-2 lead, but a 15-5 run from Iowa State (27-7) gave the Cyclones a lead they would never relinquish. Senior guard L.J. Cryer and Shead kept things close with seven first half points apiece, as Iowa State went to the break with a 30-23 lead.
It was all Iowa State in the second half as they opened the final 20 minutes with a 26-4 run. The Cyclones outscored the Cougars 39-18 in the second half. Resorting to desperation shots, the Cougars went 9 1/2 minutes without a field goal as the game got away from them.
Senior forward J'Wan Roberts was largely ineffective, too, after hurting his right leg and playing sparingly in their semifinal rout of Texas Tech. He started the game and played 13 first-half minutes before sitting out the second half.
UP NEXT• The Cougars will learn their postseason fate during the NCAA Selection Show, set for 5 p.m., Sunday, on CBS. Houston will watch the Selection Show at a private team event.
