Key Innings
3rd | After Nicholls used a two-run home run to take the lead and Rollin cut into the deficit with a solo homer in the second, Houston tied the game with a sac-fly off the bat of graduate Kennedy Thomas that scored graduate Paige Hulsey.
4th | Nicholls regained the lead with its own sacrifice fly in the top of the fourth, but Houston broke the game open in the bottom of the inning. With runners on first and second, Rollin drove home her second run of the game with a single through the right side. Junior Brooke Lorenzo and Hulsey both reached on errors in the next two at-bats which allowed another pair of runs to cross the plate, pushing Houston's advantage to two runs. After junior Lair Beautae was hit by a pitch to load the bases, Kennedy Thomas singled two home and graduate Bree Cantu followed it up with a two-run double to extend Houston's lead to 9-3.
5th | With a run-rule victory in sight, Houston loaded the bases with only one out to set up a walk-off situation. Beautae singled home one of two necessary runs and a Kennedy Thomas fielder's choice pushed home Lorenzo to give the Cougars a 11-3 win.
