Five podiums, three personal bests highlight Friday meets
AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. & BATON ROUGE, La. – The University of Houston Track and Field program closed out its regular indoor season before its first Big 12 Indoor Championship with senior sprinter Shaun Maswanganyi winning the 60-meter at the Air Force Last Chance and three Cougars placing Top-Three at LSU Twilight on Friday.
AIR FORCE LAST CHANCE
In the men's 60-meter race, Maswanganyi and sophomore sprinter Louie Hinchliffe finished first and second, respectively. Maswanganyi ran a season-best time of 6.57, which altitude adjusts to 6.61, putting him at No. 16 in the nation to win the event. Hinchliffe ran to second with a time of 6.66, and 6.71 with altitude adjustments, for his season best.
Freshman sprinter Cayden Broadnax ran to a personal best in the 60-meter, crossing the line at 6.70, with altitude adjustments making his time 6.74.
Due to an altitude of 7,048 ft. in Air Force Academy, Colo., sprinters competing in 60, 100, 200 and 400-meter events are penalized because of the lower air resistance.
LSU TWILIGHT
In the women's weight throw, sophomore thrower Zaeda Houff finished third with a throw of 16.95 (55'-7.5) meters. Freshman thrower Paris Kimble set a personal best throw on the day with a distance of 16.30 (53'-5.75) meters.
