Cougars welcome Wildcats to Fertitta Center for the first time in series history on Wednesday

HOUSTON – The University of Houston Women's Basketball program will face #12/11 Kansas State inside the Fertitta Center for the first time in series history at 2 p.m., Wednesday. Fans in attendance will receive 2025 New Year's glasses and buttons while supplies last.

THE GAME

Houston rings in 2025 at home against #12/11 Kansas State on Wednesday.
Wednesday marks the fourth all-time meeting and first meeting in Houston between the Cougars and Wildcats.
Kansas State leads the all-time series, 3-0.
Houston faces a ranked opponent for the first time this season.
For a second consecutive year, the Cougars and Wildcats will face each other once during conference play.

LAST TIME OUT

Houston dropped its Big 12 Conference opener, 74- 59, against Texas Tech inside United Supermarkets Arena on Dec. 22.
The Cougars had four players score in double figures including 12 points from redshirt sophomore guard Gigi Cooke, followed by graduate guard Laila Blair's 11 points and 10 points from both graduate guard Eylia Love and fifth-year forward Peyton McFarland.
With 2:53 remaining in the game, Blair picked up her second technical and was ejected from the game.

The Cougars return six players from the 2023-24 roster: Kierra Merchant, Gigi Cooke, Avalon Miller, Maliyah Johnson, Peyton McFarland and All-Big 12 Conference Honorable Mention, Laila Blair.
Blair (210) has her eyes set on Houston's all-time 3-pointers made record of 226.
On Dec. 4, 2024, Blair moved up to fourth on Houston's all-time scoring list with 18 points against UT Arlington. She is 29 points away from taking sole possession of third place.
Houston welcomes five transfers this season including Leilani Augmon (Troy), Summer Bostock (Maryland), Ashley Chevalier (Texas Tech), Eylia Love (Louisville) and Kateri Poole (LSU).
Avalon Miller (Achilles), Maliyah Johnson (ACL) and Kateri Poole (ACL) will miss the season after suffering season-ending injuries leaving Houston with nine available players.
