Men’s Hoops Welcomes Shadow Creek High Star Bryce Jackson

HOUSTON – Shadow Creek High School guard Bryce Jackson became the newest member of the University of Houston Men's Basketball program after signing a financial aid agreement, Head Coach Kelvin Sampson announced Wednesday.

Standing 6-foot-5 and weighing 205 pounds, Jackson is a 3-star recruit by 247Sports, on3 and ESPN. He will compete as a freshman beginning during the 2025-26 season and have four years of eligibility.

"When Bryce was a sophomore in high school, he was tracking to be possibly the best player in the state before a horrific leg injury. He had surgery and he had to sit out for a long time. When he went back on the circuit this summer, I could see signs of the old Bryce. He's not quite there yet, but he has great size and a high basketball IQ. Bryce is a tough kid and comes from a basketball family," Sampson said. "Bryce is playing at an excellent program at Shadow Creek High School with Coach President. He has familiarity with our program, just like we have familiarity with him. Bryce's best days are way ahead of him. He is still getting back to playing basketball ball with a healthy leg, and that takes some time. We are excited about Bryce and his future.

"Bryce is a winner, and he contributes to winning in multiple ways He can guards multiple positions, and he competes at the glass. He has a high IQ and makes the right plays. Bruce is just a great teammate," Head Coach David President said. "Off the court, Bryce is the face of our program, and that is all the way around, He is someone you want representing your program in the community and is an amazing young man."

Jackson battled and overcame leg injuries during his sophomore and junior seasons but returned to full health in summer 2024 and impressed coaches with his play at the Texas Association of Basketball Showcase.

Jackson's father, Luke Jr., played at Syracuse from 1992 to 1995 while his grandfather, Lucious Jackson, was an NBA All-Star who played eight season with the Philadelphia 76ers and earned the gold medal with Team USA during the 1964 Olympics in Tokyo.
