PREVIEW: Volleyball Opens Big 12 Conference Home Slate

HOUSTON – The University of Houston Volleyball team returns to the Fertitta Center to open its Big 12 Conference home schedule with a pair of matches this week, including another battle against a ranked opponent. The Cougars clash with #22 TCU at 7 p.m., Wednesday, before hosting West Virginia to close the week at 7 p.m., Friday.

Wednesday is Houston's Dorm Challenge, with the Houston dorm with the largest attendance receiving a prize courtesy of Houston Athletics. The team is also honoring its Big 12 Home Opener with a two tickets for $12 deal. Ticket deal must be purchased in advance and are not available at the box office. The first 50 students in attendance will receive a free red Houston hat.

On Friday, the Cougars host their annual Dig Pink Match in partnership with the Side-Out Foundation. All fans who donate to the team's Side-Out Foundation donation page will receive free admission to the match. It's also the team's Girl Scout Night. Fans receive a free pink Houston cup and Girl Scouts can get a Houston Girl Scout patch while supplies last.

Graduate libero Kate Georgiades ranks fourth in the Big 12 Conference and third in the state of Texas with 4.38 digs per set.
Graduate setter Annie Cooke is moving up multiple program career record lists. She currently sits in third in service aces (127) and in assists (3,440) all-time rankings.
Georgiades is also making moves on Houston record lists. She currently ranks fourth all-time in digs (2,000) and ninth in aces (99).
Freshman Lily Barron leads the Big 12 and ranks 19^th in the country with 0.56 service aces per set.
Among active players, Georgiades ranks third in Division I and first in the state of Texas and in the Big 12 in career digs with 2,227.
Head Coach David Rehr clinched his 650^th career victory with a sweep of Kansas State last week. Rehr also has 108 victories with the Cougars, the third-most by a coach in program history. Last season, he became the fastest coach in program history to 100 wins at 141 matches.
