MEET the COUGARS
Under the leadership of Director of Golf Jonathan Dismuke, six Cougars will compete at the Southwestern Invitational.
Senior All-American Santiago De La Fuente, sophomore Ruben Lindsay, junior Wolfgang Glawe, super senior Austyn Reily and freshman Chi-Chun Chen will represent the Cougars while sophomore Bryant Hiskey II will compete as an individual.
De La Fuente was the Cougars' leading performer during the fall season, posting a 70.00 scoring average with five rounds of par or better in two tournaments, and tied for second at the season-opening Argent Financial Classic on Sept. 10-12, 2023.
The Guadalajara, Mexico, captured the title at the Latin America Amateur Championship in Panama earlier this month and earned exemptions into the US Open and The Open Championship as well as an invitation to play at The Masters in 2024.
Reily and Glawe are tied for second on the team with a 72.00 scoring average this season with each claiming a Top-20 finish during the fall campaign. Both were All-Conference performers a year ago.
Lindsay competed in two tournaments in the fall and opened the Highlands Invitational with a season-best 69 on Sept. 18, 2023. Chen will make his Houston debut in stroke play after beginning his collegiate season at the Big 12 Match-Play Tournament at The Clubs at Houston Oaks in Hockley, Texas, on Oct. 9-11, 2023.
UP NEXT
Following the Southwestern Invitational, the Cougars return to the Lone Star State to play host to the Border Olympics at Laredo Country Club in Laredo, Texas on Feb. 19-20.
From there, Houston will tee off at the Cabo Collegiate at Twin Dolphin Club in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, on March 3-5 before returning home to play host to the All-American Intercollegiate on March 18-19 at Golf Club of Houston in Humble, Texas.
