#21 Volleyball Continues Road Swing at Stacey Clark Classic

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The #21 University of Houston Volleyball program heads to Purdue to play in the Stacey Clark Classic this weekend. The Cougars start with a 3 p.m., Friday match against #19 Kentucky and then will face either #20 Purdue (6 p.m. Saturday) or SMU (3 p.m. Saturday).

Houston is in the middle of a nine-match, over-month-long road stretch ending with the team's Big 12 Conference home opener against West Virginia on Oct. 6.

Houston entered the AVCA Poll last season for the first time since 1994 and tied its highest final ranking in program history at No. 17. In the preseason iteration of this year's poll, the Cougars were voted at # 19 and have been ranked as high as #13 this season. The Cougars have been ranked in all three polls so far this season.
The Big 12 ranked as the top volleyball conference in the country last year according to the NCAA's Conference RPI release. Already with five NCAA Tournament teams, the league added three additional as Houston, BYU and UCF officially joined the conference July 1.
Houston went a perfect 14-0 at home inside the Fertitta Center last season, one of 18 teams to go undefeated and one of nine to win 14. The team's home win streak of 17 is the sixth longest active streak in the country.
Kellen Morin captured the University of Houston's first individual Big 12 Conference honors by being named the league's Defensive Player of the Week on Aug. 29.
Morin currently ranks 14^th in the nation with 1.59 blocks per set.
Houston leads the Big 12 with 16.17 digs per set, fueled by Kate Georgiades' 4.28 digs per set.
Kentucky sits at 1-3 on the season with a loss to Colorado State and a pair of losses to then-#10 Pitt.
Purdue enters the weekend with a 3-2 record behind ranked wins over #23 Kansas and #19 Marquette and losses to #18 Creighton and Loyola.
SMU is coming off an upset win over #14 Baylor on Wednesday but has losses to Utah State and #5 Nebraska with wins over Lipscomb and Florida State.
