Slisane Named to All-Conference Tennis Team

Junior Laura Slisane earns first career postseason honor
HOUSTON – University of Houston junior Laura Slisane has been named to The American Athletic All-Conference Team, the league office announced Monday.Competing in her third season with the Cougars, Slisane earned her first American postseason honor and the program's 12th All-Conference honor since joining The American.
The Riga, Latvia, native was one of three Cougars with 11 singles wins during the spring season, posting an 11-4 record while playing at the No. 1 and 2 singles positions.
Slisane went on an eight-match win streak from Feb. 12- March 18, including defeating the 2022 American Conference Championship's Most Outstanding player, Camila Soares, from Memphis.
SMU's Hadley Doyle was named The American Player of the Year, while Temple's Maiko Uchijima was named The American Freshman of the Year. SMU's Jeff Nevolo was recognized as Coach of the Year.
Slisane is joined on the All-Conference Team by Marie Mattel, Nandini Sharma (UCF), Camila Soares (Memphis), Sierra Berry, Grace Schumacher (South Florida), Hadley Doyle, Taylor Johnson, Drew Morris (SMU), Jamie Wei, Maiko Uchijima (Temple) and Laia Conde Monfort (Tulsa).
