Houston adds third incoming freshman to 2023 class
HOUSTON – University of Houston volleyball head coach David Rehr announced the addition of outside hitter Ashlyn Bellamy to his 2023 signing class on Tuesday.Â

Bellamy's addition brings Rehr's 2023 signing class to six, including three transfers and three incoming freshmen. All six signees thus far are attackers.Â

Bellamy joins the Cougars following a successful preps career with Lee's Summit High School.Â

In 302 sets with Lee's Summit, Bellamy tallied 985 kills, averaging 3.3 kills per set with a .266 hitting percentage, 158 service aces, 108 blocks and 935 digs. She was one of four finalists in 2022 for the Greater Kansas City Sports Commission's Evelyn Gates Award, which recognizes a female high school volleyball student-athlete who exhibits top tier skill, spirit and sportsmanship. Bellamy also spent time playing club volleyball with MAVS and KC Power. This past club season, Bellamy and her KC Power Club Team won USAV 18 Nationals and she was named MVP of the tournament.  Among other awards, she was placed on the 2022 AVCA All-American watch list and was a four-time all-conference first team selection.

A three-sport athlete in high school, Bellamy also lettered in soccer and basketball.Â
