BROOKSVILLE, Fla. – University of Houston stars Nicole Abelar and Moa Svedenkiold each posted 2-under 70s were tied for sixth following the First Round of the American Athletic Conference Championships on Monday afternoon.
The Cougar duo were to two of four Cougars to finish at par or better. It was the first time that 4+ Cougars accomplished that feat in a single round at The American Championships since 2019.
Competing on the 6,289-yard, par-72 course at Southern Hills Plantation Club, #39 Houston posted a team score of 4-under 284 to tie with South Florida for third after the first 18 holes.

Freshman Alexa Saldana and super senior Annie Kim were tied for 16th after each recorded 72s. Saldana overcame a tough start that saw her at +2 through her first four holes but drained birdies on two of her final four holes.
Kim rallied from a double-bogey 6 at No. 6 with a birdie on No. 12 and 11 pars over her final 12 holes.
