West Coast Welcomes Cougars

HOUSTON – The Houston track and field team heads to California as 41 Cougars are prepared to compete in the Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, Calif., Thursday-Saturday.

STARTING LINE NOTES

For the fourth consecutive week, junior Shaun Maswanganyi holds the nation's fastest 100-meter dash time (10.01).
Maswanganyi also ranks ninth nationally in the 200-meter dash after running 20.41 at the Texas Relays.
Three different Cougars rank in the top 10 nationally in their respective four events, along with the men's 400-meter relay.
The Cougars have 27 top 48 marks in the NCAA West Preliminary Round descending order list which includes both the men's and women's 400-meter relay and 1,600-meter relay.
Houston leads the conference in 10 different events including the men's 400 relay and 1,600 relay.
Daisy Monie moved into the school's record book in the shot put. Monie posted the fifth-best throw in program history and currently ranks second in the conference in the event behind teammate, and school record holder Nu'uausala Tuilefano.
Houston has 41 accepted individual entries into the Mt. SAC Relays and both men's and women's 400-meter and 1,600-meter relays.
The Cougar men rank 19th in the country in USTFCCCA weekly rankings.
The Mt. SAC Relays began on Wednesday with the decathlon and heptathlon, but Houston student-athletes do not start competition until Friday.
