Cougars cap weekend in New Orleans with victory
NEW ORLEANS, La. – The University of Houston Tennis program downed Southeastern Louisiana, 4-0, from Dillard's Courts on Sunday morning to close out its weekend in Louisiana.
The match was started with singles play. The Cougars (9-5) took straight set victories against the Lions (3-4) on courts 3-6 to clinch the match.
Junior Blanca Cortijo Parreno starting things off for the Cougars on court five by defeating Alba Perez, 6-1, 6-2. Senior Azul Pedemonti immediately followed on court three after coming on top against Carla Del Barrio, 6-1, 6-4.
Freshman Sophie Schouten gave Houston its third point of the day on court four with the victory against Kate Oborina, 6-2, 6-3. Freshman Gabriela Cortes clinched the match for the Cougars on court six against Flory Bierma, 6-4, 6-2.
UP NEXT
The Cougars will return to the Barbara Wallace Winston Tennis Facility to host Lamar on Monday, March 13 at 2 p.m. and A&M Corpus Christi on Saturday, March 18 at 11 a.m.
