Cougars return to Austin for 95th running of the Texas Relays
HOUSTON – The Houston Track and Field team heads out of the city of Houston for the first time during the outdoor season to attend the 95th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays in Austin Thursday-Saturday

STARTING LINE NOTES
- Houston will compete in four different events on the first day of competition at the Texas Relays; the hammer throw (11 a.m.), the 400-meter hurdles (5 p.m.), the 1,500 meters (7:20 p.m.) and the 5,000 meters (8:50 p.m.).
- The rest of the meet schedule can be found here.
- The Houston men's team ranks 13th nationally in the first USTFCCCA rankings of the season, a five-spot jump from ending 2022 at 18.
- Houston won six total events at the Victor Lopez Classic and Cougars set 23 total personal records.
- Junior Shaun Maswanganyi was named Co-Track Athlete of the Week on March 13 after running the nation's fastest time in the 100-meter dash at the Kirk Baptiste Spring Break Invitational.
- Senior Cecilia Tamayo-Garza set the meet record in the 100-meter dash and won both the 100 and 200-meter dash at the Kirk Baptiste Spring Break Invitational.
- Maswanganyi holdds the nation's fastest time in the 100 at 10.13 – finishing second overall by photo finish to a professional runner at the Kirk Baptiste Spring Break Invitational.
- Houston men have 19 qualifying marks in the top 48 of the NCAA West Region descending order list.
- Houston women have 12 qualifying marks in the top 48 of the NCAA West Region descending order list.
- The Cougars have 33 men's marks in the top eight of the American Athletic Conference descending order list and have seven conference-leading marks.
- The Cougars have 21 women's marks in the top eight of the conference's descending order list with the team's 1,600-meter relay team posting the conference's fastest time this season.
- Houston has 18 total top 50 marks in the nation, including four top eight marks in the country.
