SERIES HISTORY. Houston welcomes both UT Arlington and Northwestern to Schroeder Park over the weekend. The Cougars hold a 6-3 record against the Mavericks while playing its first games against the Wildcats.
LAST TIME OUT. The Cougars earned its fifth straight win against Southern on Wednesday. Three players tallied home runs while sophomore Kyle Ayers struck out a career-high nine batters.
TEAM TIES. Pitcher Cade Citelli will face his former team over the weekend. The sophomore spent one seasons with UT Arlington making 14 appearances with four starts for the Mavericks. Cameron Nickens will also face former Magnolia High School teammate Tyce Armstrong of UTA while Northwestern's head coach Jim Foster spent time in Houston coaching at Rice.
CAREER-HIGH KS. Two Cougars recorded career-highs strikeouts during the two midweeks. Starting pitchers Kyle Ayers retired nine while Cade Citelli struck out eight.
REACH SAFELY. Zach Arnold is currently on a 19 game streak for reaching base safely. Justin Murray has also reached safely in 17 games while Alex Lopez is on a six game hitting streak.
HAPPY HOMER. Against Southern, Cameron Nickens, Justin Murray and Drew Bianco all hit home runs. It was Nickens second of the season after hitting one the day before against McNeese
STEALTHY STEALING. Houston sits at 40 for 48 on stolen bases this season ranking No. 22 nationally. The charge is led by Brandon Burckel who is ranked 48th in the nation with 11 stolen bags. The Cougars added to their tally on Wednesday stealing six bags.
PROBABLE PITCHERS. Relief pitcher Brendan O'Donnell is currently ranked No. 10 in the nation for pitching appearances with 12.
